New Mexico Press Women is seeking evaluators for the 2021-2022 Doris Gregory Scholarship contest.

Scholarship applicants must be attending a university or college in New Mexico and seeking a degree in media, journalism or communications.

The evaluation period will be from mid-January to mid-February 2021. Evaluators will review applicant’s submitted applicant package and score it using an evaluation rubric.

They will be acknowledged at NMPW’s annual virtual conference and in press releases announcing the scholarship recipients.

NMPW annually awards two Doris Gregory Memorial journalism scholarships. Recipients must be continuing students in pursuit of a graduate or undergraduate degree or minor in print journalism, broadcast, photojournalism, public relations, communications or advertising at a New Mexico college or university the following fall 2021 semester.

Scholarship applicants are asked to fill out an application form. The application packet includes a brief description of career goals, samples of work, a copy of transcripts and a letter of recommendation from a professor, employer, mentor or other individual familiar with the student’s work.

The deadline to apply is Jan. 15, 2021.

Applicants are evaluated based on career potential and academic progress through their submitted work samples, transcripts, a 500-word essay and two letters of recommendation.

Applicants are asked to complete the application form and other items that make up the Application Packet. The application packet consists of:

  • Doris Gregory Memorial Scholarship application

  • Letter of Application that includes a brief description of career goals

  • Work samples

  • University or college transcripts (unofficial accepted)

  • Two letters of recommendation from a professor, employer, mentor or other individual familiar with student’s work.

Scholarship winners will be announced at the virtual NMPW state convention Contests Awards Ceremony on Saturday, March 13, 2021.

Recipients will receive a registration link to the ceremony and a one-year NMPW membership.
